Retirement Project 3...

8pm Wednesday 22 September...

Regaining skills in upholstery, so that I can redo a chaise longue bought from Camden lock market 25 years ago.
Stage 1: two hours of removing staples from the Dralon, on a little chair borrowed from Mandy, to practise on. Found a little treasure underneath, once the 1960s foam had gone: good hessian and the original Victorian shavings.

Misty Lewes morning ...

Wednesday 22 September
8am on the morning of the Autumn Equinox, a calm start to what looks like a very busy day.

Musical membrillo...

Quinces in Tony Dunn's garden 19 September, a wonderful sight along with the chicken tractor, plums and blue damsons galore, apples like you've never seen... it's been a good year for fruit trees in Sussex, whereas we've not had lots of squash & pumpkins. Is it too much rain at the pollinating time for the ground fruits, or maybe the bees have been helping out his orchard ?
Music - there was lots of that too, mainly squeezybox things, as well as Harvey's beer. A lovely afternoon. Here are Charlotte, Eamonn and Michael all having a go... I played a bit in the background and now must learn "Metal Man", especially for the runs in the chorus...

Another reunion...

Saturday 18 September, Jan, Bernadette and Lianne, 21 years after we first met! A lot to reflect on... La Val Dieu 1989, grace à un bagnol dépanné, the beginning of a friendship that traces itself around the globe (although I think B is in the same flat), and all before Dan Brown spoiled the mysterious beauty of the landscape of the Languedoc for others.

Reunion...

Rose, Gaynor, Janet, Graeme, Jan, (in front) Anne, Robert
Wednesday 8th September 2010 - a lovely lunchtime reunion in Anne and Robert's house, nearly 37 years to the day that the 'girls' started their teacher education course at Sidney Webb College, London... we haven't changed, we are no different, just more like ourselves!
