New Year's Eve 2009

My free bus ticket took me to the still glittery Churchill Square shopping centre, to the sales, and everything closed around 4pm! It feels odd not to know what day it is... a woman asked me if I thought the shops would be open tomorrow. Is this the result of a 10 day christmas break? Will it still feel like that when "every day's a holiday" ? (ha ha)

It's also a Blue Moon - the thirteenth moon in a year. The clouds are scudding across it, but this is what it looks like at 18h in Brighton tonight.
Seven Directions Tours' http://www.sevendirections.net Facebook entry says " last time a Blue Moon appeared on New Year's Eve was in 1990, and it won't happen again until 2028. It has to be a special end and beginning!"

The website also says "Did you hear about "age management"? Well, if you didn't -yet- it means that you are too young for it. When you have been 40, approaching 50 or beyond 60, it's time for it! Some slow time, a little meditation break, daily treatments, in your room or at a beautiful spa, space for learning to see and not just look, for walking in the beauty of nature, for savoring some well prepared food, for listening to music and for time to just BE." Sounds useful!

taken from the M25 on Boxing day... I love the twist in the 'ribbon' of cloud... reminds me of how the unexpected turns up even in a straight line!

A List of Things To Do in 2010

... not quite New Year's Resolutions:
  • plan so that I have at least two days a week to play as well as weekends
  • take a weekly photo that makes some connection with permaculture design, and blog it!
  • work on how it also relates to life and transition theory, to help the theoretical side of retirement make sense
  • take a long walk out in the fresh air once a week minimum, preferably with a friend
  • have Wednesday as a French day - finish the French Diploma, do the conversation class, go to the music session in the morning
  • learn to play the melodeon, or another smaller instrument (yes, an anglo-concertina!)
  • clear the garden and build a small greenhouse
  • declutter the house: go through each room and make a list of what to do with what is in it!
  • clear the loft and insulate it properly (can I get a grant?)
  • sell off things from the loft at a bootsale or something
  • get new windows in the back ground floor
  • paint the outside of the house, esp at the front
  • take off the ceiling polystyrene tiles
  • be creative eg. paint, sew, poetry,
  • have lunch out with a friend weekly
  • design my dance career - create my other website!
  • keep the cloud diary
  • look for work opportunities related to music, dance, cookery and gardening
